Arrangement for A Capella Choir (SATB) / Arranjo para Coro A Capella SATB
Saturday night and I was alone at a public library. I was exhausted and sad, having studying really hard to prepare to the exam to join a very important University. So I decided to work on this choir arrangement in order to relieve me from this pressure. This arrangement came from the bottom of my heart.
Fortunately I passed the exams and few years later I was surprised by a message from a singer of the UTC Choir, South Africa. He informed me they have just recorded a performance of my arrangement.
This arrangement demands more technical attention of the choir, due to the speed of the ostinati in the second part and the maintenance of the tempo and rhythm. So this arrangement is not indicated for beginner choirs.
Since then, this arrangement has been performed by many choirs all over the worl, such as: Josephite Choir (India), Koor La Gioia (Belgium), Bezirkschor St. Veit (Austria), Alla Capella (Brazil).
Difficulty: 4.2 / 5.0
Among the three keys available, we suggest the G Major version which is not so low for the Bass and not so high for the Alto. The main line is shared by the Soprano and Alto sections, especially Alto. So, it demands good singers in Alto section. The director must have attention on rhythm of the bars 27-30.
The Bar 45 begins the second part of the arrangement. The Ostinati of the voices simulate the sound of the electric guitar riff. The director must ensure the singers perform the Ostinati with the right tempo and with a clear pronunciation. In this part, it is important to have attention to the maintenance of Tempo, some choirs haste and some other slow down.
The last bars of the song require good singers in Bass section to carry the main line properly. This arrangement sounds really good with a good A Capella choir.
Era um sábado a noite e eu estava sozinho numa biblioteca pública 24hs. Estava esgotado e triste de tanto estudar para o vestibular. Então, decidi trabalhar neste arranjo como uma forma de me aliviar. Este arranjo veio do fundo do meu coração.
Felizmente fui aprovado no vestibular e poucos anos depois um coralista do UTC Choir, Africa do Sul, me manda uma mensagem para informar que o coral dele acabou de gravar o meu arranjo.
Este arranjo demanda maior domínio técnico do coro, uma vez que a segunda parte exige maior atenção do coro para manter o ritmo e andamento correto nos ostinatos. Portanto, o arranjo não é aconselhado para coros iniciantes.
Desde então, este arranjo tem sido executado por muitos corais de vários cantos do mundo: Josephite Choir (Índia), Koor La Gioia (Bélgica), Bezirkschor St. Veit (Áustria), Alla Capella (Brasil).

Dentre das tonalidades disponíveis, nós aconselhamos a de Sol Maior, que não é tão grave para os Baixos e nem tão agudo para Contraltos. Sopranos e Contraltos dividem a linha principal, todavia ela está bem mais presente nos Contraltos. Portanto é importante ter atenção ao naipe de contralto. O regente deve ter atenção para o encaixe do ritmo nos compassos 27 ao 30.
No compasso 45 começa a segunda parte da música. O ostinato das vozes procura simular o som da guitarra elétrica. Importante ter atenção para a manutenção do andamento a partir desta parte, não correr, mas também não ralentar involuntariamente o coro.
Os últimos compassos do arranjo exigem um pouco mais dos Baixos pois eles cantam a linha principal. Este arranjo soa bem legal com um bom coro A Capella
